| 1. Introduction | |
| This privacy policy describes how Quiz Helper collects, uses, and shares information when you install or use the Chrome extension Quiz Helper. By installing or using the Extension, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. | |
| 2. What this Extension does | |
| The Extension is designed for use with quiz review pages on learning platforms (such as Canvas). For each quiz question, it adds an Ask button which, when clicked, opens a separate web-app and passes along: | |
| * the quiz question text | |
| * the answer choices | |
| * the student’s selected answer | |
| * the correct answer | |
| The purpose of this is to allow the student to ask the web-app for an explanation of their answer. | |
| 3. Information collected and transmitted | |
| What we collect: | |
| The Extension does not collect any personally identifying information (such as your name, email address, or login credentials). | |
| * The only data transmitted to the web-app is the quiz question details enumerated above (question text, choices, student answer, correct answer). | |
| * We do *not* collect browsing history, cookies, or any other data beyond the quiz-question context intentionally passed when the user clicks the Ask button. | |
| How we transmit it: | |
| * The data is sent via URL query parameters (or optionally via POST) to our web-app endpoint (hosted at [Insert Web-App URL]). | |
| * We use HTTPS encryption for all transmissions to protect data in transit. | |
| 4. How we use your information | |
| * The quiz-question data is used exclusively for the single purpose of providing the Ask-button service: launching the chat app and giving context to the tutoring assistant. | |
| * We do *not* use the data for advertising, profiling, or other unrelated purposes. | |
| * We do *not* sell or rent your data to third parties. | |
| 5. Data sharing and storage | |
| * We may store the quiz-question data temporarily on our web-app backend for the duration of the session. | |
| * We share data with no third-party advertising networks or data brokers. | |
| * If we use any analytics or logging (for example to track extension usage counts or error logs), such logs are anonymised and do not contain identifying user information or the quiz-question content. | |
| * If we ever transfer data (e.g., due to merging the company, acquisition, or legal requirement), we will obtain explicit user consent or provide notice in advance. | |
| 6. Retention and deletion | |
| * Quiz-question data is retained only for as long as necessary to provide the session’s service (and any minimal time needed for logging/analytics). | |
| * Because the Extension does not tie data to your identity, the ability to locate data for a “specific user” is limited. | |
| 8. Changes to this Policy | |
| We may update this Policy from time to time (for example when we add new features). We will post the updated version with a new “Effective date”. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy. | |
